Trekking Gokyo, Everest BC and climb Kongma Tse & Imja Tse - Artikkel ID 111

Trekking GOKYO LAKE-CHO-LA CROSSING 23-25 days. This trip, which also begins and ends in Lukla, leaves main Everest trail for an exciting side trip to the beautiful, clear, blue Gokyo Lakes. You may climb Gokyo Ri (5460 moh) for a magnificent panorama of the Himalaya from Cho Oyu to Everest and all the way to Makalu. The trek continues over the Cho La (pass), (weather permitting) to Lobuche. From here the trek can go to base camp or Kala Pattar, Namche Bazar, Sherpa homes, monasteries and the fascinating points in the Khumbu area are also included.

One of the bonuses of the detours is that it is now possible to visit the villages of Phu and Nar which had been forbidden to trekkers and had only been visited by some people pretending to climb Pisang Peak from the north!

Royal Chitwan National Park (RCNP) has long been one of the country’s treasures of natural wonders. The park is situated in south central Nepal, covering 932 sq. km. in the subtropical lowlands of the inner Terai. The area comprising the Tikauli forest - from Rapti river to the foothills of the Mahabharat - extending over an area of 175 sq. km. was declared Mahendra Mriga Kunj (Mahendra Deer Park) by the late King Mahendra in 1959. In 1963, the area south of Rapti River was demarcated as a rhinoceros sanctuary. The area was gazetted as the country’s first national park in 1973. Recognizing its unique ecosystems of international significance, UNESCO declared RCNP a World Heritage Site in 1984.

The Island is located between Panay and Cebu. It is an excellent year-round scuba destination just outside the typhoon belt. It is where the country’s top marine institute, Siliman University is found. The Island is accessible by land, sea and air transportation. Diving the islands of Apo, Siquijor, Sumilon and several points on the main islands of Negros and Cebu from the base at Coconut Plantation Resort. Larger outrigger bankas are used. The area is deep and has brisk currents, which contribute to a rich and varid marine environment. Yap lies just 9 degrees north of the Equator, 500 miles southwest of Guam, 300 miles to the northeast of Palau, 800 miles from the Philippines, and 4,000 miles from Gilligan’s Island. The eastern side of Yap is in the Pacific Ocean, while the western side of the island is in the Philippine Sea. Yap is one of the four states that comprise the Federated States of Micronesia, with Pohnpei, Chuuk (formerly Truk) and Kosrae being the other three. Yap is the westernmost of the states. Yap state consists of Yap Proper, where most of the hotels and dive shops are located, as well as numerous islands and atolls that extend 600 miles to the east, and one atoll about 80 miles to the south. These islands and atolls, being isolated in the vast ocean, are home to many species of pelagics, dolphins, whales, marlin, and many other deep sea creatures.
